Principles Regarding Allah’s Names
July 5, 2008
Allah’s Names are Derived Only From Texts.
The worst crime is to speak about Allah without knowledge.
“Say: All that my Lord has forbidden is: shameful deeds, whether open or secret; sins and oppression without right, and that you should say about All?h that of which you have no knowledge.” [7:33]
It is a plot of Shaytaan.
“And do not follow the footsteps of Satan, for he is a clear enemy to you. He only commands you to do evil and shameful deeds, and that you should say of All?h that of which you have no knowledge.” [2:168-169]
This is a point of consensus amongst the scholars.
All of Allah’s Names are Names of Majesty and Perfection
Allah (swt) says,
“And to All?h belong the Most Beautiful Names, so invoke Him by them.” [7:180]
And,
Say: “Call upon Allah, or call upon al-Ra?m?n, by whatever name you call upon Him, (it is the same) for to Him belong the Most Beautiful Names.” [17:110]
And,
“Allah, there is no god (ilah) but He! To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names.” [20:8]
And,
“He is Allah, the Creator, the Evolver, the Bestower of Forms; to Him belong the Most Beautiful Names. Whatever is in the Heaven and on earth glorifies Him, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.” [59:24]
And,
“For those who believe not in the Hereafter is an evil description, and for Allah is the highest description. And He is the Mighty, the Wise.” [30:27]
